We are looking for a qualified, dynamic, diligent and detail orientated senior accountant to prepare accurate financial statements and act as the internal “regulatory reporting and submission officer” for our group of companies. This is a position where it is expected of you to get your “hands dirty” and be very involved with the day-to-day processing in the finance office.
Responsibilities will include maintaining accurate financial records, analysing financial data, compiling monthly management accounts, submitting UIF, PAYE, VAT and Tax returns timeously and providing support to the larger finance department to ensure the smooth operation of our business units.
The suited individual for this position should bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field and be registered as a SAIPA Professional Accountant (SA), Associate General Accountant AGA (SA) or a registered CA(SA) and any hospitality and or property finance experience will be an added benefit.
Main Responsibilities include:
- Compiling and reporting on management accounts for multiple business units.
- VAT and tax returns (all statutory returns).
- Monthly reconciliation of balance sheet items.
- Ensure robust financial systems, procedures and controls are in place, reviewing processes and internal controls for continuous improvement.
- Act as the Public officer for the group’s legal entities.
Ultimately, you will ensure all our accounting transactions comply with the law and support our company’s investments and strategic growth model.
Responsibilities
- General Accounting: Accruals, prepayments, fixed assets registers maintenance, bank reconciliation, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Preparation of periodic VAT and Tax returns
- Support with Audit queries and help coordinating the overall Audit process.
- Actively participate to month-end closing processes.
- Reconcile cash transactions and report/investigate any doubtful item.
- Compile management accounts monthly for various business units
- Maintain and improve the internal database by entering, verifying, and backing up data.
- Increase productivity by participating to the development of automated accounting applications and coordinating information requirements.
- Protect operations by keeping financial information confidential.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Work with the Finance team to produce the annual business plan and manage the monthly process for updating the various forecasts.
- Produce financial/business KPIs and requisite reports to provide a clear view of the company’s and individual teams performances.
- Constantly improve and enhance skills by participating to courses, classes or trainings and show willingness to learn
Skills Required:
- A University degree in Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent
- Holder of a professional accounting qualification: CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA, etc. (Preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a Finance department or in a similar role.
- Fluent in English (Written and spoken);
- Reporting experience on Excel
- Strong analytical skills
- Proven exposure within the hospitality and or property sectors
- Able to meet tight deadlines in a complex environment.
