KUGANHA NAMED ONE OF ROBB REPORT'S 50 GREATEST LUXURY HOTELS

Kuganha has been selected for Robb Report’s 50 Greatest Luxury Hotels on Earth for 2026, placing the newly opened Western Cape wellness safari alongside some of the most recognised names and remarkable new properties in international luxury hospitality.

Published in July 2026, Robb Report’s annual selection is not simply a compilation of hotel openings. The list is informed by its panel of 24 Travel Masters – leading luxury travel advisors who spend their careers curating journeys for some of the world’s most discerning travellers.

The 2026 selection places Kuganha in extraordinary global company, alongside some of the most recognised names in luxury hospitality, including Aman’s Amanoi, Claridge’s in London, Le Bristol Paris, Park Hyatt Tokyo and Singita Kwitonda in Rwanda. Kuganha stands proudly within this rare collection of just 50 properties worldwide, bringing a distinctly South African wellness safari experience from the Karoo into the highest levels of the global luxury conversation.

For Kuganha, the inclusion is particularly powerful. It places an independently conceived, 10-suite property from the Cape Tankwa Karoo into the same global luxury conversation as some of hospitality’s most established names, while highlighting the continued strength of Africa in experience-led luxury travel.

It is also important recognition for the category Kuganha was created to pioneer: the wellness safari.

Set within a 10,000-hectare rewilded Big Five conservancy less than 2.5 hours from Cape Town, Kuganha combines safari, conservation, ultra-luxury hospitality and an unusually private approach to wellness. Its 10 Private Restoration Suites each span a minimum of 320 square metres, making them among the largest one bedroom tented safari suites on the continent, with wellness designed directly into the guest’s private space rather than positioned as a separate hotel spa.

Each suite incorporates its own sauna, steam facilities, cold immersion, salt halotherapy, flotation therapy, massage facilities, private plunge pool and spaces for rest and restoration. The result is a different rhythm of safari: guests can move between the veld, wellness, dining and complete privacy without wellness becoming another appointment on an itinerary.

Robb Report’s own coverage of Kuganha singled out the scale of the tents, the privacy of the experience and the extensive in-suite spa offering – precisely the elements that have defined the property’s ambition from the outset.

For Aquila Collection, the announcement represents more than another accolade.
