In February 2024, the Aquila Collection unveiled an unparalleled luxury safari fly camp in the Western Cape, marking a significant innovation in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry. This distinctive mobile fly camp hosted a group of 150 guests in 75 meticulously designed tented units for an exclusive overnight experience at the esteemed Aquila Private Game Reserve and Spa, setting a new benchmark for luxury safari experiences in Cape Town.

The introduction of this mobile, pop-up fly camp represents a groundbreaking development in the Western Cape’s MICE sector. It introduces the flexibility to establish unique, pop-up accommodations ranging from the Overberg and Karoo regions to the outskirts of Cape Town and the West Coast, within the diverse locations owned by the Aquila Collection.

Each tent, designed for double occupancy, is situated on a portable deck and is equipped with plush duvets, cushions, and a mattress bed to ensure maximum comfort. The tents feature a furnished stoep (veranda), an ensuite hot shower, and eco-toilet, along with USB charging facilities and lighting, blending luxury with the rugged charm of the wilderness.

The camp’s debut catered to a MICE group seeking an extraordinary Cape Town safari adventure. The itinerary included a warm welcome with entertainment and lunch at the main lodge, a safari to spot the Cape Town Big 5, and culminated at the remote, luxurious pop-up tented safari camp for a bush braai dinner with entertainment. The experience concluded with a sunrise safari followed by breakfast at the main lodge, after guests enjoyed a night of comfort and a hot, pressurized morning shower.
