AQUILA: JUNIOR RANGER PROGRAMME

This programme can be booked at an additional cost and minimum numbers will apply. Children booked on the activity will depart after breakfast.

Children under the age of 6 will be hosted in the Aquila Kids Adventure Zone, while children over 6 (and accompanying adults) will be taken on a game drive into the reserve where the program will include a variety of activities.

These will include lessons in animal identification, using spoor and animal droppings.

The ancient people that roamed the plains at Aquila are known as the Khoi San and they left behind them a rich and diverse collection of rock art. Our junior rangers are taught how this ancient culture prepared paint and paint brushes to decorate caves – where they will create their own work of art.

Juniors will also learn more about the daily lives of these ancient people, covering hygiene and cooking.

For advanced participants the geology of the region is fascinating and they will be taken back in time to when this landscape was crafted by nature and learn how the plant life adapted to the new climate changes.
